St. Marianne Cope Outreach Program - Food Pantry

Mission Statement
Our Mission is to seek out the needs of different organizations and see how we can provide assistance based on both physical donations as well as monetary from our parishioners. We need to come together as a parish community to help those less fortunate and in need. As St. Marianne Cope stated, “I do not think of reward. I am doing the work for God and do so cheerfully.”

What We Do
The outreach program relies solely on donations. Donations consist of monetary contributions, non-perishable foods collected from quarterly food drives held by the parish and sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

Every other Sunday the Sunday Sandwich Program is organized and run by the Junior Catholic Daughters providing sack lunches to feed those less fortunate and deliver to Newburgh Ministry. Alternate Sundays are organized and run by a lead volunteer who schedules volunteer families and groups from our local parish to do the same.

Twice monthly the Knights of Columbus cook hot food on Saturday mornings and deliver trays of pasta to the Newburgh Ministry.

Every Tuesday, food is gathered from inventory and perishable food is shopped for to deliver to a few organizations such as: Newburgh Ministry, Project Life, Maternity Center for the Hudson Valley and/or Safe Harbor.

Items that we feel cannot be donated such as used clothing/toys/or miscellaneous household items are donated to churches that have thrift shops in depressed areas.
For larger items such as furniture; photos are presented to Sacred Heart Parish in Monroe who run a furniture program to deliver to those in need. If accepted, scheduled appointments for pick up are made.
